When Anxiety Takes Over
School anxiety is one of the hardest things to watch as a parent.
It’s more than just “nerves” — it can take over a child’s whole world… and ripple through the entire family.
I know this first-hand.
When my son found out we were moving to a different town, his anxiety spiraled. He had panic attacks, sleepless nights, and would cry his eyes out almost every day.
It was gut-wrenching.
We tried everything — hypnotherapy, supplements, traditional therapy. Some of it helped a little… but nothing really shifted what was going on underneath.
His anxiety was consuming, and it felt like we were running out of options.
Why Kids Struggle with School Anxiety
Kids are incredibly sensitive — especially when they’re younger and still developing.
They don’t just process what’s happening logically… they feel everything.
Changes like starting a new school, moving, or even subtle shifts in friendships can bring up layers of fear:
“What if nobody likes me?”
“I don’t know where to go or who to trust.”
“What if I get it wrong?”
And for sensitive or empathic kids, those thoughts don’t stay small.
They land in the body.
That’s when you start to see things like:
tummy aches
trouble sleeping
meltdowns
panic
school refusal
Sometimes it even shows up as ongoing physical symptoms like digestive issues.

How This Work Supports Kids with Anxiety
When a child is struggling with anxiety, it’s rarely just one thing.
What I see again and again is that there are layers sitting underneath what you’re seeing — not just in their thoughts, but in their body.
Using the Body Code (and the way I work within my Metabolic Circuitry Method), we gently tune into what your child’s system is holding onto and start to shift it.
This can include things like:
emotional stress they’ve absorbed or internalised, even if they can’t explain it
past experiences that felt overwhelming at the time — especially social or school-related

That still blows me away.
